Whole Foods Market Haul

After getting my eyebrows threaded yesterday at Chandni's Spa and Salon in Cary, I headed over to Whole Foods Market on Wade Ave. to search for some oils and whatnot.  Now normally, WFM makes me claustrophobic, just like Trader Joe's. However, at this one, they have the cosmetics, vitamins, etc. in a separate part of the store.  It's like another store almost.  I was thrilled at not having to constantly bump into people or feel like i.just.couldn't.move.  I browsed for awhile and here's what I came out with:

  • Rosewater & Glycerin: Great moisturizer
  • Twinlab Na-PCA with Aloe Vera. Non-Oily

Non-oily Twinlab Na-PCA is a Ph-balanced, concentrated solution of the sodium salt of pyrrolidone carboxylic acid (the natural moisturizing factor found in human skin), combined with the highest quality aloe vera gel.

Na-PCA is synthesized from glutamic acid, a nonessential amino acid. The skin contains natural moisturizers, the most important being Na-PCA. Old skin contains only about half the amount of Na-PCA as that found in young skin. The ability of skin to hold moisture is directly related to its Na-PCA content. It is water, and not oil, that keeps skin soft and supple. Na-PCA pulls water out of the air, moisturizing the skin, improving its appearance, and giving it a moist and youthful glow. This is not a cosmetic cover up; it is a physiological correction of an age-related deficiency state. Na-PCA with Aloe Vera provides quick relief from dry and cracked skin, burns, shaving irritations, detergent rash and other minor skin irritations.

The aloe vera gel in this fine product is produced from the crystal clear gel of Aloe barbadensis Miller (Aloe vera linne), by a unique extraction and purification process exclusively developed by TWINLAB. The aloe vera gel has never been powdered, frozen or reconstituted. Therefore, it retains its maximum biological activity and effectiveness.

Ingredients: Pure aloe vera gel, NaPCA(the sodium salt of the pyrrolidone carboxylic acid), purified water, methyl paraben.

  • 100% Pure Jojoba Oil: Great moisturizer. Non-greasy. Long shelf life.
  • Vitamin E Oil: Not all are created equal.  It should have a darker color to it, not light!

I applied the Na-PCA last night on my body after showering and on my face this morning.  Because it does contain salt, my skin did feel a bit sticky and not so clean.  However, it eventually went away.  I woke up this morning and wasn't particularly impressed.  My skin wasn't really soft.  I didn't have to apply lotion (I'm not a lotion fan), but I feel like people who normally do, would.  Going to try it out for a week or so and make my final judgement. After reading quite a few reviews, most people seem to like it.  I applied to on my face this morning and haven't noticed anything great.  We'll see.

Last night I used the Vitamin E oil before bed.  I've been using Sweet Almond Oil (which contains vitamin e), but I read that it has the tendency to aggravate acne.  This morning my skin looked so amazing! There is a HUGE difference between the vitamin e that I purchased at say Vitamin Shoppe or Walmart compared to this one.  It's a small bottle, but it's so worth it.

Applied to Jojoba oil to my face this morning.  Not greasy at all.  Absorbs quickly.  Heard that it's also good for those with oily skin and that it "tricks" the body into thinking it has produced enough oil being that it has absorption properties similar to our skins own sebum.  Kinda cool.

The rosewater & glycerin I have in my purse to freshen up during the day.  Also a great moisturizer.

  1. Whole Foods has great natural beauty products. I didn't even know the sold Jojoba oil until I saw this post.
